About the event

One of Brooklyn's celebrated chefs is visiting Burdell on Sunday, May 3rd!

Chef Ham El-Waylly of Strange Delight is joining us from NYC to share his favorite childhood Bolivian dishes.

A word from the chef and his dinner inspiration: "My menu is rooted in the influence of my Bolivian grandmother, Carmela Morales Leigue. Her mother, Abuelita Natalina, was an exceptional cook whose recipes, family lore says, helped launch one of Santa Cruz’s most popular restaurants. Mama Carmela was one of the first people who taught me how to taste critically—where to buy pastries made with the best quality butter and a generous amount of local cheese, how to choose the best Charque (a local jerky), and how to tell when Achachairú (Bolivian mangosteen) is perfectly ripe."

On the menu:

Snacks

ANTICHUCHOS

Griddled heart skewer with spicy peanut salsa

SOPA DE MANI

Peanut soup with fried shoestring potatoes & market vegetables
